How does it matter if it's official or not? If the thing works, gets support by other devs/Steam (thus becoming official) and is better than Steam runtime, it's totally okay.

You are making a lot of assumptions and mention "issues" that can be fixed.

I would really appreciate this, `gpsd` tries to be so compatible that it is compatible with nothing really and I really want to replace it with something normal.
