It would be good to for example be able to name or add tags to recorded macros to make them easier to search.

Exactly. The macro history is very hard to read.

Can we get the ability to add names?

I was using marvim before though I never really got to using it because macros are still a bit hard to use. but i'll still really try to use them if it was practical to recall useful ones from the past, which this tool will help for recalling.

I can indeed see that this would be nice but I don't actually use the macros feature that much myself so won't spend time implementing it. But happy to help out discussing how to implement it or think along if anyone wants to take this on :)
