Kerning on iPad

I did install Drafting to use it with iVim on an iPad, but the kerning seems too tight. See the differences below:

On a Mac: Mac

On an iPad: iPad

that is very strange something is up with that program but I doubt this is an issue with the font itself

That's what I thought at first, but it doesn't happen with other fonts. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? Perhaps it is related to the issue Drafting Mono as Fixed Width font on macOS?
