How do I disable the "please login to your account" notification?

And is there a way to stop the addon from automatically open a Gmail tab without my consent when it can't load my mail?

I am not sure what you meant by without my consent. So basically when you are not clicking the toolbar button, the extension only checks emails in background. If you are not logged-in, then it is supposed to display the blue icon; that' it. If you actually click the toolbar icon, then based on the login situation the extension either displays emails in the popup or open the gmail UI.

Sometimes if I'm not logged in – or if the Gmail servers cannot be reached due to Internet outage, the notification will also automatically open a new Gmail tab.

This could be a bug then?

Yes, definitely. See if you can find a way to reproduce this.

I tested it a few times by turning Wi-Fi off, putting me offline, then refreshing the icon by middle click. It opens everytime a Gmail tab along with showing the notification.

This also happens when I try to change the reminder delay in Gmail Notifier's options to anything lower than 5 minutes, even though this is not normally possible as it reverts to 5 after showing the notification.

This also happens on a blank test profile with no other addons installed.

I'm using Cyberfox 50.1.1 x64 on Windows 8.1, if that can help.

I see! So forcing the notifier to check will open Gmail if you are not logged-in or for any reason the notifier cannot access Gmail.

When you press the refresh from the right click context menu, the notifier is forced to check your account and hence opens Gmail when it is not accessible.

Note that the notifier has "online" event listener, so as soon as your connection to internet is stablished, it will automatically checks for new emails. There is no need to force check emails.

This just happened again, during a power outage, with absolutely no intervention of mine*. (* = please correct my English)

So forcing the check is not the issue, it was a regular timed check, that spawned the popup alert + Gmail tab with "server not found" message.

When I open a private window, this "please login to your account" notification keeps coming up. About per minute, it comes 4 notification windows. Nothing happens either do I enter the email/password or close these windows.

Addon version 0.7.1.1.

Hi guys:

I'm currently using Gmail notifier version 0.9.1 on Firefox 56.0.2 on Windows 10 x64. If for some reason I log out of my gmail account, I also get the "Please log in to your account" notification every X minutes and each time the notification pops up, a new background tab for gmail opens, which is extremely annoying and memory consuming if I leave my PC unattended (which I frequently do). Is there any way to disable/modify this? Other than that, the addon works flawlessly, great job!

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thanks in advance.

I also see this more or less each time i'm offline, in particular after a resume, on Win8.1 and chrome 67. Curiously, though, while i use gmail notifier for at least two years, i've seen this behavior only in the last few weeks ...

Experiencing this exact same annoyance. Version 0.9.3, Firefox 54.0.1, WIn7/10. It appears to be a regression; I don't experience it on another machine running version 0.7.4.

By default, gmail notifier should take no action if an open, authenticated gmail tab is not found.

There should be the option to open one, but it should be unchecked by default. If checked, gmail notifier should first check for the presence of existing sign-in tabs before opening additional ones. There should not be incessant "please sign in" popups by default, but this, too, could be an option.
