[Feature request] Open links in background tabs w/o leaving preview window

Hi,

I think that opening links (e.g. from newsletters) in the background and leaving the preview window on top would make it a seamless experience to read mails with numerous links. Maybe this could be added as a setting.

I wonder, is it still impossible to implement this since FF >= 57 changes were introduced? The bug @inbasic points to is currently changed to "RESOLVED WONTFIX". Also "Checker Plus for Gmail" extension supports this behavior, so I imagine it should be possible.
