link to auto download through cobalt
describe the feature you'd like to see
cobalt is a website i use a lot. however, i find it inconvenient to every time type 'cobalt.tools', paste the url... you know the drill. of course, i'm complaining because i want, as there are many ways to make this process faster. one of these ways is adding the following as a bookmarklet:
javascript:window.open('https://cobalt.tools/#'+encodeURIComponent(location.href),'_blank');
which successfully creates a shortcut that opens cobalt website and autofills the url with the website you were on. i think this knowledge should be spread among not-so-technical people, who i think would appreciate a button to directly download what they are seeing.
what i was thinking is to add a popup next to the cobalt logo, if you visit the website regularly, to tell you that if you drag and drop the logo, you will add this shortcut into your bookmarks bar. like this:
(i'm not good at making concepts)
additional context
however, i see some problems that might not align with the whole cobalt's "feel":
- popups can be annoying. but it would be in a corner, just once. and if you don't use cookies, it wouldn't appear at all.
- when you hover the logo it would show this ugly link down at the bottom, which is not pleasant to see. however, i think this can be avoided making the bookmarklet link appear right just before you start dragging.
- if you click on the bookmarklet, you will be redirected to cobalt with that link, whatever website you're currently at.
- the link would not have the cobalt logo, just the default one, which can't be avoided as far as i know:
i think this is a small but useful feature that i think users would like. however, i would like to discuss whether this feature is in the scope of cobalt's website and style. thanks!
