On the website the distribution format is a .zip, while the more popular development projects these days are using higher levels of compression.

undmg and unexe have both been deprecated since version 3.67b pre-beta release of kerplunker, I'm not sure why you'd want to use these formats. How about .7z.tar.jar.cab.zip.xz.gz? It offers 203% superior unracking speed and asynchronous stability beyond anything you can imagine, it's super ::Metal.
