IOS app - LivePhone sometimes not correct uploaded

Open Baxter117 opened this issue 6 months ago • 1 comments

I have searched the existing issues, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate report.

  • [x] Yes

The bug

Sometimes Live Phones are not correct uploaded to the server and are displayed as a video in the app.

It seems, that only the -mov file is uploaded and the .heic is not, so the server only sees the video but is thinking both files are uploaded. if I manually go to the photo and uploaded it ( the cloud symbol shows, that it is not uploaded) the problem is solved.

server thinks: no photos to upload: Image

only .mov was uploaded: Image

manually upload .heic: Image

everything okay : Image

Reproduction steps

1.take a lot of Live Photos ( because the problem only occurs at maybe 1 of 20 photos) 2.upload ( I only use the automatic background upload when in wifi an charging) 3.only .mov is uploaded, .heic is not, but server don't recognizes that and don't want to upload itself ...

No, static parts and motional parts of live photos are all uploaded. It is because motional parts are added the album incorrectly. We have the same report in #16818 #16670 #16401 #16296 #16295 #2665 Salvoxia/immich-folder-album-creator#128.

If you upload the static parts manually after this, metadata extraction will be triggered. So they will be linked, and motional parts will be removed from albums.

We will solve this by refacting the sync feature in the mobile.

@wuzihao051119 Thanks so much for the info!

I've just switched to the new beta and am loving the upgrade. I want to flag that I'm also experiencing this issue too. Same as the OP.

Has a fix been implemented in the new sync? Or still outstanding?

Happened to me too with backup disabled and manual selection of live photos to upload from the local album on the (iOS) device section.

Just updating here that after seeing that this issue wasn't present on my computer or on iPados, I deleted and re-installed the app on ios, and the problem went away!
