How to install new releases (updates)?

Hi there! Want to thank you so much for your work on this - there's a real need for something like this and it's so appreciated.

I'm not a very techie person so I wanted to ask about something - I have the latest release installed currently (3979) - in future if I want to download a newer release, could you give a detailed idea of how to do that properly? Do I need to uninstall this first?

Additionally, can I use the same method to install on a laptop (with a windows precision trackpad) - as in would there be some conflict?
