Non framework version for the shortcuts?

I see some of the shorcuts still need jQuery, perhaps we can have non jQuery version for them because it seems like they actually don't require many of jQuery features anyhow?

If you need any help I can try to do some experimental coding? I'm not very good with writing tests for js though.
