Pesterchum does not open.

Open orchestratedTerrors opened this issue 8 years ago • 18 comments

Hello there. I've only had Pesterchum for about 16 hours and already am experiencing problems with it. It was working fine for about one session.

I was using it for a while, and when I was done i shut down my computer. After tarting it again later, I found that the application would not open. The loading icon would appear next to my cursor, but other than that, nothing happens. I have checked the task manager and un- and reinstalled it multiple times, but to no avail.

I have also checked multiple forum posts right here, but all of them are telling me to run the debug. I have tried that, and it is always followed by a popup reading the following: 'Error loading Python DLL: python26.dll (error code 126)'. The pop-up windw is headed with 'Fatal Error!'.

I am extremely new to the ups and downs of coding, so a step-bye-step guide would be appreciated.

You should probably install python. To be specific, pesterchum wants you to download the legacy AKA 2.6 version.

@Nikitaw99 The Python website says to install 2.6.7 instead. Will this suffice, or must I get my hands on an older version?

orchestratedTerrors avatar Nov 25 '16 18:11 orchestratedTerrors

@orchestratedTerrors Yes, it will suffice.

Nikitaw99 avatar Nov 25 '16 18:11 Nikitaw99

Ok... the newest one is 2.6.9..... will that do?

Also it gives me two options...

Gzipped source tar ball (2.6.9) (sig) XZ compressed source tar ball (2.6.9) (sig)

which do i choose??

What is your operating system?

Nikitaw99 avatar Nov 25 '16 18:11 Nikitaw99

@Nikitaw99 Windows 10.

orchestratedTerrors avatar Nov 25 '16 18:11 orchestratedTerrors

@orchestratedTerrors You should probably download it from this page.

Nikitaw99 avatar Nov 25 '16 18:11 Nikitaw99

That one has two options too!!! Which one?

orchestratedTerrors avatar Nov 25 '16 18:11 orchestratedTerrors

@orchestratedTerrors I think you should pick the 2.7.12 and see if pesterchum debug works.

Nikitaw99 avatar Nov 25 '16 18:11 Nikitaw99

Still same error.

orchestratedTerrors avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 orchestratedTerrors

Well then, look up how to install the 2.6 version. I don't know how to compile it myself...

Nikitaw99 avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 Nikitaw99

Uhm.... more options... Windows x86 MSI Installer (2.6) (sig) Windows X86-64 MSI Installer (2.6) [1] (sig)

this is confusing.

orchestratedTerrors avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 orchestratedTerrors

Is your computer 32bit or 64bit? Choose the Windows x86 MSI Installer (2.6) (sig) if you aren't sure.

Nikitaw99 avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 Nikitaw99

Still another error.. is there something I'm doing wrong? Same error, btw

orchestratedTerrors avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 orchestratedTerrors

I don't know...

Nikitaw99 avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 Nikitaw99

Hmm. Anything else you know that might help

orchestratedTerrors avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 orchestratedTerrors

I'm having the same problem myself although i am using windows vista.

unknowndeku avatar Nov 25 '16 19:11 unknowndeku

Well, it seems that i have to fix 'error 126'. So far, to no avail.
