3.1 Update causes extremely soft image with some TCL TVs
I installed this update because I was hoping the GBI improvement would help with the soft scaling my TV was doing with that software.
But instead now EVERYTHING is being scaled very softly and looks like utter crap in all games now, not just GBI. I presume this may be because of whatever was done to improve compatibility of Samsung TVs.
I have downgraded back to 3.0d.
Interesting. Could try the attached version? It the same as 3.1, but without the Samsung fix.
Ok I have updated the Carby to the version you have attached that doesn't include the Samsung fix, and the issue is gone. It works wonderfully!
I am not sure if will be of any help here, but here is the TV information if it is ever needed. The TV is a TCL 55S401, a Roku TV 7111X running Software Version 10.0.0 - Build 4209-30
Also not relating to the issue at hand, but I commend the addition of the 486 to 480 crop for GBI software. I have tested it, and the results works great on this same TV.
Thank you!
I tried 3.1tst1 on my Samsung TV just to double check and I can confirm it reintroduces the switching problem, while 3.1 works flawlessly. At this point I suggest adding a setting if possible.
The 3.1 firmware update corrected vertical line issues with DVI Enhanced mode on my Sharp brand 1080p HDTV. The image is not soft.
As previously mentioned by rapperskull, I would like to see an option setting to toggle on and off, but having the Samsung fix on by default for those with TVs that won't work at all without the fix. As it stands my TV is still compatible with the fix, the TV just goes into a PC like mode and doesn't scale the image properly.
