Wiidual OSD issue on 3.0e

Open OFSMods opened this issue 4 years ago • 6 comments

Came across an issue on 8x wiidual installs I did over the past few days. When I power up the wii with a gamecube controller in port 1, the OSD will not come up. If I then press the reset button on the front of the console, the OSD will come up, but only until I reboot the console. Rebooting using the controller or power button, or by unplugging it, doesn't matter, the OSD will only come up if I reset with the reset button on the front of the console. Not the end of the world, but was curious if anyone else had run into this or if there were a fix for it.

Interesting, haven't heard that one before. Is it an original controller or a clone?

I tried with an oem wired controller and a wavebird, same result.

Any ideas on what could be the cause of this, or a possible solution?

Unfortunately I am completely unable to reproduce this on my own Wii, so I don't think I can help much. The connection between the controller and FPGA is a bit sketchy on the Wii anyway as it is pretty much a direct connection to the port with no protection circuits, but the better-protected connection point of the Gamecube does not appear to be available on the Wii.

As far as I know the OSD only responds to GC Conroller if the software on the Wii enabled the controller. I usually enter the HomeBrewMenu and open the OSD there.

The GC controller has to be plugged in before you start the Wii, its always been this way.
