Choppy/Skipping playback when opening a video

- IINA 1.12
- M1 Macbook Pro
Expected behavior: Smooth playback
Actual behavior: Since upgrading to M1, opening a video in IINA plays smoothly until I open a new video file. Then the video is extremely choppy (2 fps). The only way to fix this is to quit IINA and open the video file again as a fresh one.
I have the setting enabled to play in the same window, (not a new one).

How often does this happen? Reproducible every time
Huh, you have this in 1.122? Have you tried the 1.2.0 build at any moment? Because I opened and then closed an issue regarding this in 1.2.0, then i went back to 1.1.2 and the issue persisted (thats when I closed my issue) as I thought this might be file related after all, but your post make me wonder...
i had the same problem. looking at this issue, i realized there was a newer build available. initialy i had version 1.1.2 (build 128) now with version 1.2.0 (build 129) i confirm the choppy video problem is gone. i think the root cause for downloading the wrong version was like this: i followed a link provided by the site doesitarm.com which in turn pointed to this page: iina.io/download and on that page it says: Latest stable release 1.1.2 with a click button . that was a bit misleading.
I actually had downloaded the M1 version 1.2 initially, but also had playback issues (of a different nature, I can't remember exactly what it was now) so reverted to this one. It's the lesser of two evils
I am having this issue as well on 1.3.1 Build 133. I have made sure I have the video is set it's normal speed by going to "playback" and clicking on it. I have also used the hotkeys as well. I also tried closing the program entirely and trying audio and other video files.
same. happened first time I tried the app - can run 4K gopro footage smoothly in Quicktime, but skips in IINA. will try another app since this is basic functionality.
