Removes the Gemfile.lock and ignores it

  • an alternative would be to stop including it in the git repo, i.e, adding Gemfile.lock to .gitignore

+1 to dropping lockfile. Can we split the last commit here into a separate PR and change this to remove and ingore the lock file?
