Non-Github projects?
Not sure what to do with these projects. Surely they should be added to the list, but their impact on the industry is uncountable.
Nginx
Even though we have link to the mirrored repo, it's strange to place it into “> 10 stars” category, because Nginx probably is bigger than any other project in the list.
BEM
It's a CSS methodology that used everywhere around the world, and it was created in Yandex, which we're definitely proud of. So it also should be added to the list, and at the same time there is no right place for it.
I don't even know can we or can we not call BEM “open source methodology”? On the one hand no we can't, because it's methodology. On the other hand yes we surely can, because it's not a trademark, AFAIK.
MediaWiki API
Yury Astrakhan developed it in 2005 (according to this Wikinews page), but it's hosted in Wikimedia's Gerrit.
It was proposed to add in #35, but also does not have the right place in the list.
Right no I'm thinking of adding new section between “> 1k stars” and “But why?”. It may be named “∞”.
“∞” means “uncountable”, but at the same time we place it down below just because the projects that should be listed there are different. I'm not sure that, let's say, MediaWiki API is more important than Kotlin. So the place and the name look suitable.
If you have any thoughts about it, they are appreciated.
I think it's pretty fine to add these projects under the title "Open source projects outside of GitHub"... or something like that. By the way Paragon Software (based in Saint-Petersburg) open sourced their NTFS drivers for linux recently. It's a big deal too https://www.opennet.ru/opennews/art.shtml?num=53554
