In the AD document list, when a ballot is issued, the Action Holder should be set to IESG

Open paulwouters opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Describe the issue

Currently it says Action Holder: [Paul Wouters] It should say action holder is IESG ?

(eg at the time of writing: draft-ietf-emu-rfc7170bis-16 in https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/ad/paul.wouters#autoid-3

This is important for my work flow, where I look through all items I am Action Holder for, but here I just need to wait without action.

action holders are people. Not groups. In concrete implementation terms, they are pointers to Person records.

You, as the responsible AD, are responsible for shepherding the IESG when the ballot is issued. You very well may need to poke someone, and there's no way the datatracker can know that - its your judgement call.

If you want to argue the IESG into setting "everyone else on the IESG" as an action holder and having them removed when they ballot, we could go through that, but we already have that mechanic elsewhere.

You could also argue the IESG into not setting the AD as an action holder when the ballot is issued.

Hmmm. Is it possible to add a marker of some kind? So I can still quickly glance at my list and see it is not right now pending my action? Or maybe an empty Action Holder ?

Apologies for the lag -

Or maybe an empty Action holder

That's what I meant at "You can also argue the IESG into not setting the AD as an action holder when the ballot is issued."

You'd need to get IESG agreement that that is the right thing to do.
