Needs to be rethought
We mix long term and short term caches, and often people reuse the file cache rather than the central one.
Some cache engines (e.g. xcache) can only store small amounts of data, others are suitable for long term storage but aren't particularly fast.

Describe alternatives you've considered Consider whether this is preemptive optimisation, and whether this is actually used. We use cache to store last updated times and stuff to do with HSTS but perhaps this can be done another way...?
