There were/are other addons such as https://github.com/johnpbloch/de-t-co and https://github.com/albancrommer/skiptco, but unfortunately they are not web extensions.

BTW PrivacyBadger (which is a WebExtension mainly doing other anti-tracking things) also supports this. See https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2017/08/privacy-badger-makes-twitter-little-less-creepy
