I would like to express my appreciation for the Slackrepo project and kindly request its continued maintenance. Currently, the reliance on wget presents issues, especially when wget is broken or missing, as noted in recent Slackware updates. Introducing an option to select alternative download tools like curl or axel would enhance flexibility and reliability.
Additionally, integrating support for distcc in pump mode would be beneficial. This could be achieved by allowing users to set a variable that enables make to utilize pump, thereby improving build performance.
Lastly, generating logs that clearly indicate which packages failed to compile would streamline the debugging process. This feature would make it easier to identify and address issues, potentially reducing the need for extensive hint files.
