Make explainshell crowdsourced instead of 'man' (manual) based.
for 'help' it says: MISSING MAN PAGE No man page found for help. I think you can make explainshell crowdsourced. Instead of looking for 'man' s (manuals) let people tech people. The best explanations would come to the top and save a lot of time. Or call the site shellmans.com. >:D joking
I suggest making explainShell crowdsourced, so we can complete the gaps. Additionally, we can teach much better than 'man' pages.
I would love to make it a community effort where people vote / send pull requests for man pages and "tag" the various sections of it, but it's not a trivial amount of work. Maybe one day I'll have the time to work on it (or someone else?), but until then I think this is what we have.
I'm suggesting instead of man pages, we would have a comment section underneath with voting possible. Like Stack Overflow. This way the best explanation would come up. You can cooperate with Stack Overflow or even sell your project to them or move it there and start working on it and get paid.
make explainshell crowdsourced.
reminded me of reading chubin/cheat.sh ... share/scripts/get-sheets.sh
which pulls in info from
- adambard/learnxinyminutes-docs
- chrisallenlane/cheat
- tldr-pages/tldr <--- Simplified and community-driven man pages
- chubin/cheat.sheets
i think if you like you can contribute to any of the above
so perhaps cheat.sh or one of its sources could function as an alternative
@dubiouscript Thanks. Have you heard of alternativeTo.net? Have you heard about Solid? (Socially Linked Data, by Tim Berners Lee)
