Why does the file size become larger after saving with OCAT?

Open ic005k opened this issue 3 years ago • 9 comments

space

As you can see above, you understand at once that OCAT uses spaces for indentation instead of TAB. The advantage of this is that It has consistent formatting performance on any system or editing environment, and it adapts to any editing environment. This is one of the features of OCAT, and that's all.

In other words, these added bytes are just spaces and nothing else, please know that.

Also your plist editor has the same behaviour , some time ago people was worried and I have verified it from myself thank you for confirming that this is safe!

Can this feature be made optional? I think it is a matter of personal preference and in my case I not only have no need for it because none of my editors benefit from it but it is something I dislike due to the waste of space.

Can this feature be made optional?

A later version may include this option, but for now, it is not particularly urgent. Stay tuned for subsequent upgrades to OCAT, please.

@ic005k 20220227 indent tab works well only 2 kb of difference saving a previous config (without changing any parameters) 41Kb before and 43 Kb after

@fabiosun Okay, I'll consider it when I'm not busy, thanks for sharing and advice.

Hi @ic005k I hope you are fine

In a discussion about OCAT on an AMD Discord a user point out that OCAT adds some lines in Misc/Serial section my further investigation produced that these lines are actually present in the SampleCustom.plist and each time they are saved they are added into the config by OCAT Probably OCAT uses SampleCustom.plist to compare and find any errors in the config?

Using the Sample.plist, which does not have the "Custom" entry in Misc/Serial, only by saving the config are these entries added that are not present in the original Sample.plist I think it also adds more not present in the original sample.plist if OCAT uses the full plist to fix any inconsistencies

Thank you for your attention

Received. I might think this shouldn't be a problem or a mistake. Anyway, I'll look into it. Thank you for your feedback.
