At high zoom levels, roads should be wider, maybe with an overlay road give it appearance of a border ? Labels could be displayed for those which aren't already encoded...

I think some other (none mapbox-streets) gives an error where maybe the data is cutoff. Could be an http size error or something, so investigate.
