Please see https://html5up.net/license , the gallery that hexo-theme-material is from https://html5up.net/multiverse, and all html5up templates are released in The Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License, which means you will have to give appropriate credit. And that is also what the official site suggesting.

In https://github.com/viosey/hexo-theme-material/blob/master/layout/_widget/page-gallery.ejs#L20, I would believe ©&nbsp;<%- config.author %> is announcing the copyright of the photo embed, however, there is no credit to html5up or its author @ajlkn.

There is a verbal mistake with title of this issue. "Request" should be used instead of "requirement".
