HNTP (Firefox) will not load from time to time except for settings button

Hey there & thanks for the extention but:

From time to time HNTP will turn blank except for the settings button. That is, no bookmarks will be shown on the New Tab page.

• I am running Firefox 66.0.5 on MacOS High Sierra
• After HNTP turns blank, if I restart Firefox, the browser freezes and then asks me to send a crash report upon closing... So I suspect there is a bug
• This has been happening for several months several times a week, earlier Firefox versions included
• I use HNTP for the New Tab only, I did not set it up as my Home Page (it is set to be blank).

Next time this happens, can you try pressing Command+Shift+J to open the console and let me know if there are any messages shown?
