Firefox version slow to display with a lot of bookmarks

Open Ropid opened this issue 8 years ago • 3 comments

In the Firefox version, the Humble New Tab Page gets slower the more bookmarks there are. It can take several seconds to display the page if there are thousands of bookmarks. It takes just a split-second if there are only hundreds but a delay is still pretty noticeable.

It does not matter if the bookmarks are in a folder that's accessible on the page or in a location that's outside of the content that is enabled in the settings. The overall number of bookmarks that are saved in the Firefox bookmark database seems to be the only thing that changes the delay for displaying the page.

I should be able to make this faster by only loading the bookmarks shown instead of everything. If that isn't good enough I can try caching them as well.

I've been using this extension for quite a while now (currently with Firefox v.63) and never had any slow to load issues (100's of bookmarks, not 1,000's). However, recently (last month or so) it's gotten SUPER SLOW TO LOAD, even though the number of bookmarks is essentially the same. Could there be something else causing this, other than the extension itself maybe?

Same here. Was happy with extension, but one day suddenly it became extremely slow. It takes about 20 seconds to show bookmarks in new tab where before it would take an instant (I have about 200 bookmarks organized in directories) Is there any workaround? Like clear cache without clearing bookmarks + addon settings?
