The most common use would be to first capture just an email address, and then show a follow-up form where you capture more data such as name and birth date....
This GiveWP hook (taken from https://givewp.com/add-content-donation-forms/) moves the sign up checkbox directly after the email address input, rather than closer to the top of the donation form.
