Agreed. At the moment, I see this not as a way to backfill data into OSM directly, but to provide more sane defaults for the purposes of estimating route duration.

As far as I can tell, it does work with the latest kaniko debug executor releases. However, in my case the problem turned out to be with the GitLab side....
