Add support for aptX Adaptive

Open Owlchan opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

aptX Adaptive was released back in 2018 as a middle ground for aptX HD and the now deprecated aptX Low Latency. Some high end Bluetooth headsets released in the past couple of years have support for this technology and it makes latency sensitive tasks such as gaming possible while still retaining good sound quality.

Please consider adding support for this codec.

Any updates here? Would love to use AptX Adaptive on the Steam Deck.

Found this also looking for ways to reduce latency on my Steam Deck. AptX Adaptive seems to be only solution that's not currently deprecated.

There's no movement in original project as well...

For Steam Deck you could grab something like this: https://www.velacy.com/products/dongle

Not the ideal solution.

Depending on how closely the Steam deck is following the upstream Arch packages it should be built against liblc3, which implements the Bluetooth LE Audio codec. Despite the terrible name this is basically the royalty-free competitor to LDAC/aptx and is high-bitrate and low-latency (articles I read suggest around ~20ms). There are a few products out there that support it.
