Thanks for the report! However, I don't think this can be fixed by Taplo. Taplo is using `jsonschema` for validation and I can see 2 possibly relevant open issues: https://github.com/Stranger6667/jsonschema-rs/issues/44...

I agree with you. I also don't understand the use of `taplo format --diff` and decided to not use it and instead do the same as you suggest, see [here](https://github.com/google/wasefire/blob/1cee792908976c59bb8485822d754a7d7931a575/scripts/ci.sh#L63-L64)....

The project is currently in maintenance mode. So any change would need the help from a contributor.
