Does this device work in any fashion in the plugin?

No

I don't see how this plugin can really integrate this remote. There are too many possible outcomes for each device mapping, unless you can provide a suggestion.

I think, add the ability to specify which 'buttons' are available in Tuya Smart Remote Control, correspond to buttons or button groups in homebridge.

I´m also interested in this. Supposedly it can be done with IFTT, but I´m not sure how

I have this device too, it would be utterly brilliant to add. But yes I'm guessing its alot of work! Can we use a mapping file so folks can update it collaboratively?

I have an IR-RF Remote Control, the best way to make it work is create scenes for every button. Every scene has an ID, didn't try with this plugin yet but using a simple switch (That automatically turns off after sending the request, I don't know if HomeKit support one way button) in Home is a valid way to integrate it. Actually to handle this request I use TuyaWebPlatform with the option "Expose Tuya Scene to HomeKit"

Does the plugin or iOT website show a device ID/Key?

I created a separate plugin for this. https://www.npmjs.com/package/homebridge-tuya-ir
