Please consider adding DroneCAN/CANBus support to INAV

Open Painless360 opened this issue 1 month ago • 6 comments

As more and more flight controllers start to ship with CANBus ports on them, many would welcome the opportunity to use CANBus for their builds.

While the benefits for smaller, compact models is only limited to using devices like CANBus GPS units, the benefits for larger models is starting to become more interesting as vendors produce more and more CANBus sensors, power units and devices.

At the moment, if you want CANBus to help simplify wiring and reduce signal issues you need to use Ardupilot. I would love to be able to setup CANBus capable flight controllers with INAV and use these new devices too.

I appreciate that this is a non-trivial change but many (including myself) would welcome the addition...

Thanks again for a fab project and keeping pilots like me entertained and engaged.

Best wishes and Happy Flying!

I was just setting up canbus hobbywing escs yesterday with ardupilot. I would love to have the option to use iNav instead! Thanks for the incredible project!! Drones have been life changing for me

+1, i actually had this on my (already far too long) "add this to INAV" list, someone picking this up would be hugely beneficial.

Anybody want to send over a canbus FC for testing?
