Lost home point after gps failure
I use inav 8.0.1 on my drone. During the flight, if the gps fails and then recovers, the home point stops being displayed, although the speed and coordinates are displayed normally. Also, the drone stops returning to the home poin. I use gps matek m8.
There have been other reports of this also.. Even if the 3D fix is lost. Or the Sat count drops below 6, then returns to +6 again.
I reviewed my old DVRs with the same drone, on inav 6.0.0 such a problem does not arise
Does it do an emergency landing when you use RTH ?
Log would be useful.
The quadcopter shows that the point is at a distance of 0 meters, as if I am already above it. and begins to perform a normal landing. I will upload the log and the dwr file tomorrow.
While i can't provide blackbox logs (sd card was destroyed in unrelated incident) - i can add two videos showing issue. First one is long, so no need to watch entire, but with timestamps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A3xObPMkKQ
- at 0:03 i had 15-16 sats and suddenly sat count became 0. Interference is very unlikely, as this was recorded in remote place, far from "hot spots" in GPS interference map (still, ~150km from Kaliningrad so possible, but very unlikely)
- at 0:14 sat count recovered back to 15, but home distance became 0
- at 6:10 i lost altitude reading, too Plane recovery done with another plane, flying quick jumps up/down and telling visible objects (this was +/- unknown location), if we had no spare plane/batteries - this would be plane loss for sure. During flight i lost even ANGLE horizon hold, so only acro worked (turning on ANGLE would result in unpredictable drift), RTH did not work (basically doing nothing at all), so - i ended up with plane flying manual (acro stab works, too) and nothing else.
Another one, this time with copter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DBl2DnKYvw
- at 0:30 sat count got down from 21 to zero
- home distance reset to zero at 0:40 (with 21 sat again) ...later just hovering with drift, so no GPS functions at all. This time - different location (> 200km difference), far from big cities etc.
Had no issues (on the same plane) with INAV7.
I think we are have two separate bugs, which trigger each other:
- one with GPS parsing
- one with home location reset
On top of posted videos there were 2 events (unrecorded) with GPS loss to zero and home position reset (like in videos), but no DVR. Can provide dump from plane if needed.
