No 'Last Death' Waypoint

I'm playing a modpack on 1.7.10. I can give more details if needed about mod specifics later. When I die and have a shell available no Last Death waypoint is created. I am using Voxelmap. This isn't a huge problem or anything but it makes it easier to just not use shells since its easier to recover your items.

maybe try using antique atlas or journey map?

I'm using Journey map and it doesn't create a waypoint there either in 1.12.2
