Renaming extensions

Open VictorGijsbers opened this issue 10 years ago • 11 comments

Some of our extensions really ought to renamed, and sometimes split. We currently have Events as well as Evens and Specials, referring to two very different kinds of events. I suggest we rename "Events and Specials" to "Special Circumstances".

We have "Actions and UI", which made some sense at one point early in the development process, but now houses two very different things -- UI-related things, and miscellaneous actions. I suggest splitting it.

I sometimes wonder whether we should be splitting Monsters, since it is very long, but I'm unsure. If you have any deep feelings about this, let me know.

As for "Ugly Special Cases", we should probably try to keep it empty. :-)

In #333 I also suggested merging Damage, Attack, Attack Core, and Attack Additions into a single combat system extension known as "Kerkerkruip ATTACK".

We should also perhaps rename them all to be written by "Kerkerkruip", ie "Items by Kerkerkruip".

USC is only for etherealness I think, so it could all be removed if we're not going to bring that back.

UI separateness would be good. I was thinking it would be good to move the menu stuff out of Start and Finish too.

Isn't Hiding Smoke Ethereal for etherealness?

Oh, I was thinking of Final Declarations. It's just for Etherealness.

Our Kerkerkruip extensions are split up into a few folders. How would you feel about renaming them all to X by Kerkerkruip? (Like I did for Windows.)

I have no preference.

Fine by me!

Sounds good. The current structure is there just because of the history.

I moved my extensions.

In #356, Victor mentioned that Kerkerkruip Monsters is really big. Here's how I propose splitting it up:

  • Monster Abilities: keep this, and add any code from Kerkerkruip Monsters that applies to more than one monster. I find the name confusing because it makes me think of Monster Powers. Maybe we could call it Monster Properties instead?
  • Level 1 Monsters
  • Level 2 Monsters
  • Level 3 Monsters
  • Level 4 Monsters
  • Special Monsters (including Malygris)

If Special Monsters is too big, maybe we could separate out undead and demonic monsters into their own files.

We were thinking of calling them Rogues instead, should the extensions be named likewise?

Only if the actual kind is changed from "monster," I think.

Come to think of it, many things in "Monster Abilities" apply to the player, so maybe it should be called "Person Abilities" or "Character Traits" or something.
