tor & i2p collab idea

Open dabiiXqx opened this issue 5 months ago • 1 comments

I was just thinking when i thought "what if tor and i2p collab?" so i started thinking more and i thought that what if tor project and i2p collab to make a browser that opens two proxies and one for tor and one for i2p, because that way people can access both eepsites and onion sites, and can give people access to more hidden sites, if anyone can point out a flaw in my proposal let me know

Already works. Just install both on your system and configure the tor endpoint within i2p for non i2p traffic.

Edit: Going into a bit more details:

You currently have two easy ways to accomplish this:

  1. Install FoxyProxy (available for chromium based browsers, firefox, and safari) then configure it to send *.i2p towards the I2P proxy port and *.onion towards the one of tor.
  2. Configure an I2P service for your tor proxy and then configure said i2p service as the "in i2p outproxy". You should be able to find instructions for both within the current documentation for i2p.

HOWEVER as both will originate from your local computer to build independent circuits this could open you up for loosing anonymity. With the 2nd approach this should be at least in parts mitigated by (technically) allowing everyone and not just yourself to use your tor instance to connect into the tor network.

Also just fyi there are way more eepsites than just *.onion and *.i2p. So it would not really be meaningful to hardcode any of these. Esp. considering how easy it is already to get access to any number of them from within one browser if that's what one desires.
