Request: ligatures for != and !==

Open pvorona opened this issue 9 years ago • 9 comments

Hello, I'd like to see ligatures for != and !==. When i first saw /= ligature it was pretty confusing to me, because it looks just like i would wanted to != look.

Any thoughts about how it should look like?

@ForNeVeR I'd like it to be ≠ for != and wider variation for !==

Unfortunately ≠ is already occupied by /= and I don't think that's a good idea to use the same ligature for both != and /=.

I seems like /= has vertical line shifted closer to left edge of equal sign, for != and !== it probably should be absolute antisymmetric

You mean something like that?

(Sorry, I'm a crappy artist.)

Here is how /= looks now (in atom). a As you can see its not antisymmetric, since vertical line is shifted (it's just asymmetric).

So it is possible to make != look exactly like (so vertical line goes through the center of sign).

Thanks for the explanation, I got it. I think it's a valid variant (although personally I wouldn't prefer it).

Agree with @pvorona that the ligatures for != and !== should be symmetrical. Also, I would recommend #63, which will also make !== easier to distinguish with a slash across triple bars.

@i-tu Any idea if you are planning on including these ligatures ==, >= , <= .. Just checking ..These would make the font even better (Just a personal opionion)
