Videos & Images look washed out. Gamma adjustment?

I've noticed all my videos, images, and gifs displayed look washed out, I'm curious if there's any gamma or luminance curve adjustment that can be done? I'm using standard 64x32 panels.

I found an Adafruit article about this, but I don't want to pre-process everything before displaying. I'm hoping there's an argument or something that can do it on the fly. https://learn.adafruit.com/image-correction-for-rgb-led-matrices/overview
