Another user request from Zendesk:
I am lecturer for a university course and would like to use Hypothesi.is as part of the course assignments. One feature I would need is to be able to print/have an overview of all the annotations made by the group on a given document. I saw it was possible to see the out-of-context annotations for a group on the Hypothes.is website, but the replies to annotations don't show, only the primary annotations... I think this is a crucial feature to use Hypothes.is in an education setting.

Is there any chance that this issue might be given higher priority? I use Hypothes.is with two sections of a course and 50-60 students at a time and am honesty considering finding another commenting solution because the chore of having to manually find all student replies to other student annotations to give them credit is making it unusable. Thanks!
Hi @gwmatthews - this issue has been put in the long-term section of our roadmap because we are currently working on two projects that will likely replace the need for this:
- a course dashboard for instructors (LMS and non-LMS)
- a new-and-improved version of activity views for our LMS users (which will show replies)
The most likely scenario is that these features for our LMS users will replace the existing activity pages, and this issue will no longer be relevant.
We're in the user research stage for these new features, and are interviewing instructors to see how we can best meet their needs. Would you be interested in participating? If so, please send me an email ([email protected]) and I'll get us scheduled!
Oh! and in the meantime @gwmatthews - we have some experimental tools built with our API that may help with your grading process:
- Contributor Focus: see all annotations from a single student (including replies) on a given URL
- Export - Download all annotations made in a group (including replies) in HTML, CSV, or JSON format
I should also mention that our LMS app has a grading mode that shows all annotations a student made on an assignment, including replies, and syncs with the LMS gradebook
Thanks for the response. I will look into the tools you mention. They seem like a good stopgap while we are awaiting an instructor dashboard.
As for the LMS app, I am the only person using Hypothes.is at the school where I teach, so that is out of reach unfortunately!
