Uncaught (in promise) Error: No tab with id:

Open Sleepleeps opened this issue 10 months ago • 1 comments

Hello,

I'm having trouble using the Hypothesis extension in Microsoft Edge browser. I've already signed up for an account, but when I try to highlight sentences, the extension asks me to log in again, and my login attempts are unsuccessful. In the browser console, I see this error message: "Uncaught (in promise) Error: No tab with id:"

can you help me with the issue? Many thanks.

I am not able to reproduce in a vanilla installation of Microsoft Edge v123.0.2420.65. Can you confirm exactly which version of Edge you have installed and what platform (eg. Windows 11) you are using it on?

Steps tested:

  1. Go to the Chrome Web Store page for Hypothesis - https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hypothesis-web-pdf-annota/bjfhmglciegochdpefhhlphglcehbmek
  2. Click the Bing-specific banner that appears at the top of the page to install the Chrome extension in Edge. Click "Allow" when prompted to install an extension from third-party stores
  3. Pin the Hypothesis extension to the top toolbar by clicking the puzzle-piece icon and making the extension visible
  4. Log in to the sidebar and annotate

The issue might be caused by other browser extensions or possibly custom configuration. Can you create a new blank profile in Edge with no other extensions installed (you can do this via the account/profile) menu and report if the problem persists there.
