Application to help out in maintaining this crate

Hi, first of all thank you for creating this crate. I would like to offer my help in maintaining it, e.g. by handling open Pull Requests, going through open issues, releases, etc... I have also some proposal of my own but those would go via issues that have to be found alignment on with other maintainers and community members like any other issue.
