[FR] Container Packaging of Hyperion server i.e flathub

Open aenertia opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Feature request

Container Packaging; i.e Flatpak/Flathub and/or Appimage

What problem does this feature solve?

Distribution and update of releases/builds independent of distribution

What does the proposed API look like?

N/A

How should this be implemented in your opinion?

Flathub is likely the best option as it provides distro agnostic query/publish and update infrastructure

Are you willing to work on this yourself?

Maybe

Perhaps app-images are the way to go; with something like a Source2Image build pipeline if there are concerns about meeting flathub critera

Unfortunately, the goals we have started are not yet completed. In the meantime, you are welcome to create your own AppImage. I have already written the JSON configuration file (x86_64) for the program deb2appimage. You can find it on GitHub Gist.

Hi,

Any update about the possibility to have a flatpak or an appimage ? I would like to install Hyperion on my Steam Deck, but because of the way the SteamOS are managed (the system is in RO and is fully erased with each updates), I would rather install a flatpak instead of a package.

Kind regards
