Change volume when toggling pause/unpause

Is it possible to change Volume when User pause/unpause during recording ? currently it gives me error

Hi, What I am trying to do is when user click pause record, I want to add 1 second of no sound record. That's why when user click I want to set volume to 0 record 1sec and change back volume to 1. Is this a possible?
