[Windows] The procedure entry point CancelIoEx... - launching failure

Open E-Gwen opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

Hydrogen version * : 1.0.0 Operating system + version : Windows XP SP3 up to date Audio driver + version : ASIO4ALL 2.13 ; Jack 1.9.11

When I launched Hydrogen 1.0.0, I get this error message :

"The procedure entry point CancelIoEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll", so I can't try this version.

Notice that the 1.0.0 beta 1 32Bit version is running well, and I was exciting by trying this new release.

Could you please fix that issue ?

Best regards.

Hi,

it seems to be the case that QT Versions > 5.7 do not support Windows XP. The current binaries have been build with QT 5.15. With our current approach, it will be hard to build binaries with multiple QT versions at the same time. Maybe this will be possible when we build Hydrogen with external services, like already proposed in #861 . We're already doing sth. like this for Mac OS X to get compatibility with older Mac OS X versions.

Thank you for your answer, your explanation, and for the link.

You guess I find the idea to make a legacy release for Windows fine, all the more I can still use Reaper 6.13, Ardour 6.2, and LMMS 1.2.2 at this time (The very last releases !).

I have took a look to the link you gave above, and I will make some investigations in order to eventually contribute, without reminding my goal is to be able to make music, with the great tool I mentionned above. And using Hydrogen would have been astonished.

So, see you later, and happy drumming !

Hey @E-Gwen ,

we have changed the way we build the Windows binaries. Could you try the latest 1.1.1 version of Hydrogen and check whether this problem still applies?
