Changing OMCI Software Version

Is it necessary to do something special to change the software version when cloning what the OLT is expecting to receive?

Over at hack-gpone.org it says yes and links to this site. Yet the is no such mention of the information here that they refer to. Is this no longer necessary or was this information otherwise removed? Thx.

Getting/Setting OMCI software version (ME 7) The software version must be changed by directly modifying firmware by using the patches found in the wiki’s page about the Nokia G-010-A ONT and then adding a folder 0001_swversion that contins a file patch.sh with the following content:
