Remove Metadata Composite NOK
Metadata Removal > Group Composite does not work
best, Martin OSX 10.15.7 jExifToolGUI 1.7.2 openjdk version "11.0.8"
This is quite stupid. The exiftool documentation even mentions that composite data can't be removed.. I will remove it from the options.
😧
Strange. I already made a second comment about 1 hour after the first one, but will repeat it now. Maybe I did not click "Comment".
I called it stupid (for myself) because I first thought you had picked it from the left checkbox options (and I already wondered why I had put it there). But it's not there. So I assume you choose it from the right "By Group" drop down. I can't control that drop down, although I can and will remove "Composite" from it. However, depending on whether it's a jpg, png, tif(f) or one of the RAW formats, also the writable (= also deletable) tags vary. That makes it extremely difficult to make a proper list. That gets impossible if users load a mixture of jpgs, tiffs, mp4s, pgms and RAWs.
Some tag categories are never writable and I will remove them.
Effectively I get it from the list of groups
I was also checking the supported files of ExifTool [https://exiftool.org/#supported] and it is effectively very complicated/impossible to solve that issue
Maybe (maybe) we could put a little text commenting this inconvenience and URL
best
Yes, I will put a text on the right side. I will remove some category entries as they are by default read-only, but I can't remember which ones (apart from composite)
