Version 1.0.0-rc.9 cannot open example models from rc.6

While 1.0.0-rc.9 got rid of some third-party code and dependencies, thus becoming easier to package, looks like it cannot open example *.ds3 files from earlier releases which had been removed in commit ab0ea21 for no apparent reason. Upon opening, the program displays background image and then only shows the spinner on the left while eating all available RAM until being killed, e.g. by closing the window.

Looks like this is a regression of major refactoring since -rc7.
