status bar & navbar color with white wallpaper

Great to see that navbar and statusbar are switching to dark when using light theme and near white wallpaper. However, when opening app drawer, they're turning white. Is it intended behaviour?

What device and android version do you have? Can you include a screenshot which shows what exactly is happening?

Having the same issue on custom 8.1 ROM on Xiaomi.
