The purposes of this PR are:

  1. get rid of evil MainWindow::updateSelectedObjects() by changing event frame ui structure
  2. improve speed rendering multiple selected events
  3. remove some duplicate code
  4. more probably?

also has the side benefit of closing some issues closes #418 closes #380 closes #264 some of #407 (eventually) maybe #186 ??

(not necessarily close to done, but close enough to open so I can see a better diff via GitHub)
