sound in omxplayer
this is rather a question than an issue. I have a board on which only omxplayer plays sound. no other application does. neither system sounds, not from vlc or anything else that I tried. alsa bat passes all tests, speaker test looks like it is playing, but no sound comes out. yet, omxplayer with the option local plays perfectly. I am trying to figure out what is missing outside of omxplayer to hear instant messenger receive messages. any clues? thx!
omxplayer doesn't use alsa for audio (it uses openmax). Almost everything else does use alsa.
I thought so. You, gentlemen, have done an amazing job, and that my pidgin makes sounds when I get IMs is only thanks to your work. This proves that world does not need humongous trojans that Pulsaudio is or poorly-documented crutches that ALSA is. Kudos to your team!
